Work is moving forward on two Grade II listed buildings along Allhallowgate, in the centre of Ripon, North Yorkshire. Working closely with Shrogg Developments Ltd., the former fish and chip shop and attached restaurant is being converted and restored into two separate houses, with the larger house to have a new kitchen/living room extension.

A key element of the design is the re-instatement of an original passageway leading through to an opened back yard. The photograph shows the rear of the buildings with the former enclosing restaurant structures cleared away to reveal the remaining original elevation, where the surviving passageway entrance can now be seen. The project has also unexpectedly grown in size with the discovery of a previously unknown cellar room. Removal work is ongoing to clear the space which was conveniently fully infilled with site rubble during the earlier C20th restaurant conversion.
